Collected near Estrella Waterfall in the Philippines, this Hoya species boasts elegant, narrow, lime-to-deep green leaves with faint venation and a graceful vining habit. Still an undefined species, Hoya sp. ‘Estrella Waterfall’ captivates collectors with its soft, cascading growth and potential for beautiful, pale yellow to pinkish blooms.
It’s a subtle beauty that brings a wild, tropical vibe to any Hoya collection.
Features:
- Slender, pointed leaves with a soft matte finish and delicate venation
- Small, pale yellow to blush-pink flowers in tight clusters (may be lightly fragrant)
- Origin: Estrella Waterfall region, Philippines
- Graceful trailing or climbing habit – ideal for hanging baskets or trellises
- Unidentified species
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light encourages strong growth and helps bring out subtle coloring in the foliage. Avoid harsh midday sun.
- Water: Let the top 2–3 cm of the soil dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in cooler months. Hoyas are sensitive to overwatering.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60%+), mimicking its tropical origin. Use a humidifier or humidity tray in drier environments.
- Temperature: Intermediate grower. Best suited to temperatures between 15–35°C. Protect from temperatures below 15°C.
- Soil: Use a chunky, airy mix—orchid bark, perlite, and coco husk. Excellent drainage is a must.
- Feeding: Feed in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. A bloom booster can help promote flowering in mature plants.
- Growth Habit: vining growth that trails beautifully.
- Best displayed in a hanging pot or trained to climb.
Notes:
- Well-rooted and established in pot
- A slow-to-moderate grower, but rewarding with time and care
- Flowers may take time to develop in non-tropical conditions
